Marco_Brambilla

It’s not often when I click “Play” on any online video that I say “What the Hell?” in amazement. In this case, it was because of Marco Brambilla’s gorgeous media installation, Civilization, in the elevator of the Standard Hotel in New York.

Composed of 500 looped HD stock, movie, and original video clips this piece is absolutely astounding. I can only imagine what it’s like to be in the elevator as you ascend or descend through heaven and hell (Yes, the video matches your ride in the elevator.

For your own “WTH?” moment and details on its production continue on.

The New York Times’ series “One in 8 Million” features a story of a New Yorker every week. This multimedia gallery of photos supplemented by audio clips of the subject could easily qualify as a museum quality installation on your personal desktop. This utilizes the most intimate forms of media (audio and photography) in delving behind the facade of these people’s public lives. Highly recommended. Link
