Krab cake

Thursday, April 15th, 2010

Based on this fantastic Mr. Krabs cake entry on Food Network’s Spongebob cake challenge, Lauren Kitchens is possibly the most talented sugar artist we’ve ever seen. Okay, we’re biased because of our love of all things Spongebob. Still, check out her blog.

Avatar: The Last Airbender's Appa in cake form

Cake Sushi

Yes, that’s Appa from “Avatar: The Last Airbender,” a serving of beautiful sushi, and a Canon in cake form. Sugar artist Ann Sumimoto makes cake look so cool you almost don’t want to eat them. Almost. We found Sumimoto’s work through a mutual friend on Facebook who told us that not only do her cakes look incredible, they taste delicious. Amazingly, Sumimoto currently doesn’t make a living at this, she does it for fun. She’s considering going pro in Honolulu, but needs a gentle nudge. If you like cake (and we know you do), please leave her some encouragement by becoming a fan of her Facebook fan page and leaving some comments. We who love cake salute you!

Mike's Amazing Cakes

Though they look like beautiful handblown glass, they are really cakes made by Mike’s Amazing Cakes (insert Joey Lawrence “whoa” here). Be sure to view their gallery to check out the man-sized dinosaur and exquisite wedding cakes. These cakes are not a lie.
